In the context of Subproject 3: “Horizontal support tools for service management and security” of the Project “Platform for the Provision of Services for the Deposit, Management and Disposal of Open Public Documentation Data and Digital Content” with MIS code 327378.
The Project
This project is part (Subproject 3) of the Project “Platform for providing services for the deposit, management and distribution of open public documentation data and digital content” (MIS 327378) and its beneficiary and operating body is the National Documentation Center (EKT).
Project Scope
The main objective of the Project is to provide “cloud services” for open documented digital content, provided as integrated SaaS software services and supporting the creation and operation of digital repositories and library automation systems. The software services are complemented by electronic support services (e-helpdesk), distance learning (e-learning), as well as online support tools for the organization and distribution of information and content produced.
The services are provided centrally, by the advanced electronic infrastructure of the EKT, to a large number of entities in order to organize or distribute the metadata and digital content they produce. Within the framework of the project, large-scale actions were implemented with a horizontal intervention character in a large number of public interest entities such as libraries, memory institutions – museums, entities that have archival material, art and culture organizations, public administration entities, research organizations, etc. with the aim of highlighting and making available Greek digital content and the data associated with it.
Purpose of the System
Specifically, the implementation of the act aims to create the conditions for a “comprehensive and integrated” intervention, with cutting-edge technology, so that the actions taken daily by public interest bodies and briefly related to the cataloguing, documentation, management of information and content available to users or used within the body are carried out using standards at all stages. The intervention was designed and implemented with the model of providing integrated SaaS software services, taking into account that the bodies in the scope of application have a high degree of heterogeneity not only between different categories but even between bodies in the same category.
